Thank you for all your emails and comments regarding my Princess Bride wedding reading. I got a lot of good feedback!
Well, I do want one from the Bible. But I am looking for something that is unique as well. The other day, I randomly ran into a good friend of mine, Elizabeth, at lunch. She and our mutual friend, Lindsay Jean, invited me to join them, and we talked about the ring, the competition, and the upcoming wedding. I mentioned that I wanted a unique Bible reading and asked them for advice. Lindsay Jean immediately opened her Bible which she had with her.
She said, “You know how every time the Bible mentions love, it’s usually not about love between a man and a woman, right? It’s about God’s love and how He is love. Maybe you should read something like this at your wedding. I find it a good reminder on what love really is.”
1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
I really like the end on it. So I decide this is definitely a front runner in the search for Bible readings for weddings. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know!
