Addison and I had a blast picking out things for Operation Christmas Child. We did a box for a boy age 5-9. Addison and I debated over what things would be the best gifts, and I think we made a pretty good team.
We made sure the kid would have enough to either have a great time with his imagination or play with a friend. We got him two dinosaur figures (so they could battle) and two hot wheel cars (so they could race). We also got the coolest bouncey ball ever. It is about the size of a grapefruit and can bounce 75 feet in the air!! And if he was a huge loner, we got him a ball you tied to your wrist to play catch by yourself. Figured we covered all the toy bases there.
My favorite thing we got was this cute little hat. I have no idea what drew me to it, but I knew immediately that it was this kid’s. It also came with a matching scarf…so really… how could we (okay, mainly me) resist?
It was a lot of fun bonding with Addison over this. I know we chose to do it over Angel Tree like we had originally planned, so an idea struck me. Why not do both? Yeah…money is crazy tight. So instead of buying gifts for each other, why not just have another fun experience like that and give a local kid on the mountain a present for Christmas. Addison loved the idea too.
So that’s what we’re doing this year. And I must say, even though I love buying presents for the people I love, this year I’m relieved. It takes a lot of stress off, and I really think that sharing this experience with each other is much better than buying each other something we don’t need.
I’m just glad I have a guy I can be on the same page with. Nothing made me happier when Addison loved the forgoing our presents to each other idea. I must say, I have the best one, ladies. I apologize for snatching him up.
